Serving on a Catholic school Advisory Council is a ministry. Members provide a service for the Catholic school community.
Purpose
The Texas Catholic Conference of Bishops Education Department (TCCB ED) requires each school to have a governing body in place. The Catholic Schools Office and the Archdiocesan Schools Council recommend an Advisory School Council for each campus to focus on the needs and growth of the school, as opposed to a broader Total Board of Education that focuses on the educational needs of the overall parish for every age group.
Catholic school Councils are advisory to the Principal and Pastor in Parish Schools. Councils assist the Principal and Pastor in Parish Schools to recommend policy, identify and articulate the educational needs and aspirations of the school and school community, and engage in longrange strategic planning. These goals become the basis for program objectives, policies, and action plans for the educational programs of the school.Committees
Approval and establishment of school committees are based on the authority and approval of the Pastor and Principal in Archdiocesan Parish Schools. Members of the committees may be drawn from Council membership and from the community at large, and are chaired by a Council member. The Advisory School Council with the approval of the Pastor and Principal in Archdiocesan Parish Schools may provide for such committees, as it deems advisable and may discontinue committees at its discretion.

Advisory School Council meetings are held the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. via Zoom. As the largest ministry of the parish, the council welcomes everyone interested to serve, kindly reach out to Fr. Raj Gnanasekar or Principal Juliana Dubbelde.
