self-contained Teacher

I started at Corpus Christi Catholic School in 2006 as a second-grade teacher. 

What brought me here was the small family-like atmosphere that made me feel like I had found a home.  I have seen many classes go from elementary school to middle school graduating 8th grade and beyond.  It has been a privilege to work in such a welcoming environment.

“I believe that all students are capable of learning and reaching their potential.  I push students to achieve high academic standards, even when they may not believe in themselves.  Through discipline, encouragement, and high expectations students are able to achieve more than they think they are capable of.  All students learn differently, so it is a matter of finding what works for each student to reach their potential.”

I have been teaching for 20 years (grades 2, 4, 5, 6, 7) and a member of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA), National Council of Teachers of Mathematics (NCTM), and Kappa Delta Pi.  

My Favorite training:  STEM training (2 years) through Rice University REMSL (Rice Elementary Model Science Lab) Program. I plan to keep taking professional development focused on technology, STEM, and developing readers and writers.

My B.S. degree in Elementary Education with a double minor in English and Social Studies
 M. Ed in Curriculum and Instruction (Multicultural, Urban, and International Education)
