My name is Richard Garza, I am the Physical Education Teacher and Athletic Director here at Corpus Christi Catholic School. I have been with the Archdiocese for 14 years and am very proud and blessed to be a part of this amazing Corpus Christi Colt community.
I am a native Houstonian, born and raised in Westbury. I grew up attending St Thomas More Catholic Parish and School 1st-8th grade and graduated from Westbury HS.
I then attended and graduated from Blinn College where I received my AACJ and graduated from Sam Houston State University with a BSCJ. I was a member of both collegiate track teams during my time there. I was also a graduate assistant coach at Blinn College, where we won numerous National Championships in Track and Field and Cross Country.
I have 30 years of coaching experience with all age groups. I hold certificates in USA level 1 and USA level 2 Track and Field Programs. I am a lead ASEP instructor and a member of Positive Coaching Alliance.
I was blessed enough to coach 22 athletes who competed in the 1992 and 1996 Olympics in Track and Field, most of these athletes I am friends with till this day.
My passion has always been to mentor young kids and athletes, but not to teach that winning is everything, trying is, and learning how to accept and learn from defeat is what really will help them in their future.
I personally invite you and your family to come check out this amazing Corpus Christi community and what it can offer for your child.
